2. Sikkerhedsoplysninger
ADVARSEL: Manglende overholdelse af disse sikkerhedsinstruktioner kan resultere i elektrisk stød, brand eller alvorlig personskade.
- Always disconnect power before installing or servicing the heat cable.
- The heat cable must be connected to a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) protected outlet.
- Do not cut, splice, or alter the heating section of the cable.
- Ensure the cable is not pinched, kinked, or damaged during installation.
- Do not install the cable inside pipes.
- The cable is designed for specific applications; do not use it for purposes other than pipe freeze protection or roof/gutter de-icing.
- Keep children and pets away from the installed cable.

3. Opsætning og installation
The HEATIT 8PLSR heat cable is pre-assembled and self-regulating, simplifying installation. It is suitable for both residential and commercial applications.
3.1 Tjekliste før installation
- Verify the cable length is appropriate for your application (refer to selection tables in Section 3.4).
- Ensure the power source is 120V and GFCI protected.
- Inspect the cable for any visible damage before installation.
3.2 Installation for Pipe Freeze Protection
The cable can be installed on plastic or metal water pipes (including inlet pipes, drain pipes, sewers). It can be applied in straight, spiral, or wrapped configurations, and can be overlapped without risk of overheating due to its self-regulating nature.

Figure 3: Flexible installation options for the heat cable.
Trin:
- Clean the pipe surface where the cable will be applied.
- Secure the cable along the pipe using electrical tape or cable ties at regular intervals (e.g., every 12 inches).
- For increased protection, especially in colder climates, insulate the pipes after cable installation.
- Plug the illuminated plug into a GFCI-protected 120V outlet. The plug will light up when power is supplied.
3.3 Installation for Roof and Gutter De-icing
The HEATIT cable is suitable for various roof types, including inclined roofs, flat roofs, metal roofs, asphalt roofs, and rubber roofs. It helps prevent ice dams and ensures proper drainage.

Figure 4: Protecting roofs from snow and ice damage.
Trin:
- Determine the required cable length using the selection table below.
- Install the cable in a zigzag pattern along the roof edge and inside gutters and downspouts.
- Secure the cable using appropriate roof clips or fasteners designed for heat cables.
- Ensure the cable is not covered by debris or insulation that could impede heat dissipation.
- Plug the illuminated plug into a GFCI-protected 120V outlet.

4. Betjeningsvejledning
The HEATIT 8PLSR cable features self-regulating technology, meaning it automatically adjusts its heat output based on the ambient temperature. This prevents overheating and conserves energy.
- Strømindikator: The illuminated plug indicates that the cable is receiving power. Note that the light only shows power is ON; the cable heats up only when the thermostat senses low temperatures.
- Temperaturområde: The cable operates effectively within a wide temperature range, with a minimum installation temperature of -76°F (-60°C) and a maximum exposure temperature of 185°F (85°C).

5. Vedligeholdelse
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of your HEATIT cable.
- Sæsonbestemt inspektion: Before the cold season, inspect the entire length of the cable for any signs of wear, cuts, or damage. Ensure all securing points (tape, clips) are intact.
- Renhed: Keep the cable and surrounding areas free from leaves, debris, and other obstructions that could interfere with heat transfer.
- Elektrisk kontrol: Periodically check the GFCI outlet for proper function. If the GFCI trips, investigate the cause before resetting.
- Opbevaring: If removing the cable for off-season storage, coil it loosely and store it in a dry, protected area away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
6. Fejlfinding
If you encounter issues with your HEATIT cable, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Mulig årsag | Løsning |
|---|---|---|
| Cable not heating | No power to the outlet; GFCI tripped; Ambient temperature above activation threshold. | Check power supply and GFCI. If the ambient temperature is above freezing, the self-regulating cable may not activate. |
| Illuminated plug not lit | No power to the outlet; Faulty plug/cable. | Check power supply. If power is present and the plug is not lit, contact customer service. |
| GFCI trips repeatedly | Damaged cable; Water ingress; Overload. | Inspect cable for damage. Ensure connections are dry. Reduce load on the circuit. If problem persists, discontinue use and contact customer service. |
For issues not listed or if solutions do not resolve the problem, please contact HEATIT customer service.
