3.2 Installation for Pipe Freeze Protection

The cable can be installed on plastic or metal water pipes (including inlet pipes, drain pipes, sewers). It can be applied in straight, spiral, or wrapped configurations, and can be overlapped without risk of overheating due to its self-regulating nature.

Diagram showing flexible installation methods: spiral, straight, and wrap, with checkmarks for self-regulating, pre-assembled, can be overlapped, and never overheat or burn.

Figure 3: Flexible installation options for the heat cable.

Trin:

  1. Clean the pipe surface where the cable will be applied.
  2. Secure the cable along the pipe using electrical tape or cable ties at regular intervals (e.g., every 12 inches).
  3. For increased protection, especially in colder climates, insulate the pipes after cable installation.
  4. Plug the illuminated plug into a GFCI-protected 120V outlet. The plug will light up when power is supplied.

3.3 Installation for Roof and Gutter De-icing

The HEATIT cable is suitable for various roof types, including inclined roofs, flat roofs, metal roofs, asphalt roofs, and rubber roofs. It helps prevent ice dams and ensures proper drainage.

Trin:

  1. Determine the required cable length using the selection table below.
  2. Install the cable in a zigzag pattern along the roof edge and inside gutters and downspouts.
  3. Secure the cable using appropriate roof clips or fasteners designed for heat cables.
  4. Ensure the cable is not covered by debris or insulation that could impede heat dissipation.
  5. Plug the illuminated plug into a GFCI-protected 120V outlet.

5. Vedligeholdelse

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of your HEATIT cable.

6. Fejlfinding

If you encounter issues with your HEATIT cable, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

ProblemMulig årsagLøsning
Cable not heatingNo power to the outlet; GFCI tripped; Ambient temperature above activation threshold.Check power supply and GFCI. If the ambient temperature is above freezing, the self-regulating cable may not activate.
Illuminated plug not litNo power to the outlet; Faulty plug/cable.Check power supply. If power is present and the plug is not lit, contact customer service.
GFCI trips repeatedlyDamaged cable; Water ingress; Overload.Inspect cable for damage. Ensure connections are dry. Reduce load on the circuit. If problem persists, discontinue use and contact customer service.

For issues not listed or if solutions do not resolve the problem, please contact HEATIT customer service.
