5. Opsætning
5.1 Batteriinstallation og opladning
The MI 3123 is powered by 6 NiMH rechargeable AA batteries. Before first use, or if the battery indicator shows low charge, fully charge the batteries using the supplied power supply adapter. Connect the adapter to the instrument's charging port and plug it into a suitable power outlet. The charging indicator on the device will confirm charging status.
5.2 Connecting Test Leads and Earth Rods
For 4-wire earth resistance measurements, connect the provided test leads to the instrument's terminals as indicated in the short instruction manual. Insert the four earth test rods into the ground at appropriate distances and configurations according to the specific measurement method being performed. Ensure good contact between the test leads and the earth rods.
6. Betjeningsvejledning
The MI 3123 offers several measurement functions. Always refer to the detailed instruction manual on the CD for comprehensive guidance on each measurement type, including connection diagrams and specific procedures.
6.1 Standard 4-Wire Earth Resistance Measurement
- Connect the four test leads to the instrument and to the earth rods as per the standard 4-wire configuration.
- Select the 4-wire earth resistance function using the rotary switch.
- Press the TEST button to initiate the measurement.
- Read the resistance value displayed on the LCD. The instrument will indicate PASS/FAIL based on configured limits.
6.2 Specific Earth Resistance Measurement
This function measures the resistivity of the soil. Follow the connection diagrams for specific earth resistance measurement, typically involving a linear arrangement of four earth rods. The instrument calculates and displays the specific earth resistance based on the measured resistance and the spacing of the rods.
6.3 Contactless Earth Resistance (Two Clamps Method - Optional)
For this method, two optional current clamps (A 1018 and A 1019) are required. This allows for earth resistance measurement without disconnecting the earthing system. Connect the clamps to the instrument and place them around the earthing conductor as instructed. The instrument will measure the resistance of individual earthing rods within a loop.
6.4 Data Storage and Download
The MI 3123 can store test results internally. Use the MEM button to save measurements. To download data, connect the instrument to a PC via RS232 or USB cable. Utilize the optional Metrel software (e.g., EuroLink PRO PC SW package) for data retrieval, analysis, and professional report generation.
