1. Forberedelse

Before starting, ensure the main water supply to your home is shut off and all water lines are drained. If you are replacing an existing valve, locate the plumbing access panel behind the valve. If no access panel exists, you will need to create an opening centered on the wall behind the valve.

The M-CORE valves are available with various plumbing options including CC/IPS, Crimp PEX, Cold PEX, and CPVC (4-Port). This manual focuses on general installation steps.

2. Attaching the Valve to Existing PEX Tubing

The center of the mixing valve should be positioned 45-48 inches from the floor of the shower. Use the plastic ground to position the valve flush with the finished shower wall, ensuring the "UP" symbol is facing upwards. Measure and cut appropriate lengths of PEX tubing to connect the hot and cold water inlets to the valve. Slide crimp rings onto each end of the new tubing before inserting them into the elbows and the valve. Crimp each connection securely.

3. Installing the M-CORE Transfer Valve

Determine if you will be installing two or three showering devices. If installing three devices, you will need to remove the cartridge nut and pull out the old cartridge from the transfer valve. Remove the dust cover, clip, and limiter from the cartridge. Reinstall the cartridge and nut, hand-tightening then snugging with a wrench. If installing two showering devices, do not remove the limiter and clip from the cartridge.

The minimum distance between the center mixing valve and the center of the transfer valve is 8 inches. Ensure the mixing valve outlet aligns with the transfer valve inlet. Cut and connect the PEX tubing for the primary (marked '1') and secondary (marked '2') showering devices. If adding a third device, connect its plumbing to the outlet marked '3'. Crimp all PEX connections. Secure both valves to the cross member from the front of the wall for added support.

4. Flushing the System and Checking for Leaks

M-CORE valves come pre-installed with a flush plug. Turn on the main water supply and let water run from the shower outlets for 15 seconds to remove any debris. Pressurize the system and check for any leaks. Then, turn the water off.

5. Installing the M-CORE 3-Series Cartridge

Remove the flush plug nut and pull out the flush plug by hand. Push the adapter and pressure balance puck out of the installation sleeve. Rotate the adapter 180 degrees and reattach it to the puck. Reinstall the pressure balancing puck assembly into the provided installation sleeve. Align the tab on the check adapter with the hole inside the valve body. Align the two posts on the back of the cartridge assembly with the pressure balancing assembly. Thread on the cartridge nut included with the trim kit, hand-tighten, then snug with a wrench.

6. Installing and Setting Adjustable Temperature Limit Stop

The M-CORE valve includes an adjustable temperature limit stop to meet applicable temperature code requirements. To test the temperature, hold the lever handle in the 6 o'clock position. Lift and turn the handle clockwise until it stops. Turn on the water supply and measure the temperature. If the water temperature exceeds 120°F, you must reset the temperature limit stop. To reset, turn the handle to lower the water temperature to 120°F. Close it and remove the handle. Remove the temperature limit stop ring. Turn the limit stop ring clockwise until the tabs on the ring line up with the corresponding tabs on the cartridge. Reinsert the limit stop at the desired hot position.

7. Installing 3-Series Trim

Install the decorative sleeve onto the mixing control valve. Using the four included screws, attach the mounting plate and snap ring to the valve. Once the snap ring is centered on the sleeve, secure it to the valve using the four included screws. Snap on the escutcheon plate. To add the transfer valve handle, slide the adapter into the handle and start the set screw. Install it onto the cartridge stem with the handle pointing down. Finish by tightening the set screw. To add the mixing valve handle, start the set screw and then place the handle on the cartridge stem. Finish tightening the set screw.

Operating Your Shower Trim

Your Moen Belfield M-CORE 3-Series 2-Handle Shower Trim allows for precise control over your showering experience:

• Temperaturkontrol: The lower handle controls the water temperature. Rotate it left for hotter water and right for colder water.
• Flow kontrol: The lower handle also controls the water flow. Pull it out to increase flow and push it in to decrease or stop flow.
