3. Opsætning
3.1 Indledende inspektion
Upon unboxing, carefully inspect the mandolin for any signs of damage that may have occurred during shipping. Check the body, neck, headstock, and strings.
3.2 Placering af bro
The mandolin bridge is typically not fixed and may shift during transport. It must be correctly positioned for optimal intonation and sound. The bridge should be placed approximately two-thirds of the way down the body from the nut, aligning with the F-holes. For precise intonation, measure the distance from the nut to the 12th fret. The distance from the 12th fret to the bridge should be approximately the same.

3.3 Stringing and Tuning
The RM-70 mandolin uses 8 strings, arranged in 4 courses of two strings each. Ensure strings are properly seated in the tailpiece and bridge slots. Tune the mandolin to standard GDAE tuning (from lowest to highest pitch). Use a digital tuner for accuracy. New strings will stretch and require frequent re-tuning initially.

4. Operating (Playing)
4.1 Holding the Mandolin
Hold the mandolin comfortably against your body, typically with the back resting against your chest or stomach. The neck should be angled slightly upwards, allowing your fretting hand to reach all positions easily.
4.2 Picking Technique
Use a mandolin pick to strike the strings. Experiment with different pick angles and attack strengths to produce various tones. The down-up stroke (tremolo) is a fundamental technique for mandolin playing.
5. Vedligeholdelse
5.1 Rengøring
After each use, wipe down the strings and body with a soft, dry cloth to remove sweat and oils. For the body, a slightly damp cloth followed by a dry one can be used, avoiding harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
5.2 Opbevaring
Store the mandolin in its case when not in use to protect it from dust, impacts, and environmental changes. Avoid exposing the instrument to extreme temperatures or humidity fluctuations.

5.3 Udskiftning af strenge
Strings should be replaced regularly, typically every few months depending on playing frequency, or when they sound dull or show signs of corrosion. Replace one string course at a time to maintain neck tension.
5.4 Fugtkontrol
Wood instruments are sensitive to humidity. Maintain a relative humidity level between 45-55% to prevent cracking or warping. Use a humidifier or dehumidifier as needed, especially in extreme climates.
6. Fejlfinding
- Tuning-ustabilitet: New strings require stretching. Ensure strings are properly wound on tuning posts and the bridge is stable.
- Summende strenge: Check for proper bridge placement, string height, and fret levelness. A professional setup may be required.
- Dum lyd: Old or dirty strings can cause a dull tone. Replace strings regularly. Ensure the bridge is seated correctly.
