1. Introduktion
This manual provides essential information for the safe and effective use of your Sunpower Flexible Monocrystalline Solar Cells. These high-efficiency cells are designed for DIY solar panel construction, offering flexibility and robust performance when properly handled and integrated. Please read this manual thoroughly before attempting any installation or operation.
2. Sikkerhedsoplysninger
Your safety and the longevity of the product are paramount. Adhere to the following safety guidelines:
- Extreme Fragility: These solar cells are extremely fragile. They are designed to be flexible to a very limited degree (a few degrees of arc at most). Excessive bending will cause irreversible damage and render the cell inoperable.
- Håndteres med forsigtighed: Always handle cells by their edges. Avoid touching the active surface directly, as oils from hands can degrade performance and require cleaning. Consider wearing clean, lint-free gloves during handling.
- Elektrisk sikkerhed: While individual cells have low voltage, connecting multiple cells in series or parallel will increase voltage and current. Always take appropriate electrical safety precautions when working with assembled panels, including wearing insulated gloves and using insulated tools.
- Varmepåføring: When soldering tabbing wires, apply minimal heat for the shortest possible duration. Excessive heat can damage the cell's internal structure or cause short circuits. Use a flux pen to facilitate soldering and reduce the need for prolonged heat.
- Laminering: For long-term durability and protection against environmental factors and physical contact, it is highly recommended to laminate the cells after they have been assembled into a panel.
3. Opsætning og montering
Proper setup is crucial for optimal performance and longevity.
3.1 Forberedelse
- Ensure your workspace is clean, dry, and free of dust or debris.
- Gather all necessary tools, including a soldering iron with fine tip, flux pen, tabbing wire, bus wire, and a clean, soft surface for handling cells.
3.2 Cell Handling
Due to their extreme fragility, handle each cell with utmost care. Avoid any sudden movements or impacts. Place cells gently on a soft, flat surface when not actively working with them.

3.3 Tabbing and Soldering
The cells feature pre-designed contact points on the back for tabbing. Carefully solder tabbing wires to these points to create electrical connections.
- Apply a small amount of flux to the contact pads.
- Place the tabbing wire over the fluxed pad.
- Briefly touch the soldering iron to the wire and pad until the solder flows and creates a secure connection. Remove the iron immediately.
- Ensure connections are solid but avoid excessive solder buildup.

3.4 Panelsamling
Once individual cells are tabbed, they can be arranged and connected in series or parallel to achieve the desired voltage and current output for your DIY solar panel. Secure the cells to a rigid backing material before lamination.
4. Betjeningsvejledning
After successful assembly and lamination (if applicable), your solar panel is ready for operation.
- Eksponering for sollys: Position the solar panel in an area that receives maximum direct sunlight throughout the day. Shading, even partial, can significantly reduce power output.
- Produktion: Each individual cell is rated for approximately 0.6 Volts and 3.6 Watts under standard test conditions. The total output of your assembled panel will depend on the number of cells and their configuration (series/parallel).
- Forbindelse: Connect the output terminals of your solar panel to a charge controller, battery bank, or inverter as per your solar power system design. Ensure all connections are secure and properly insulated.
5. Vedligeholdelse
Regelmæssig vedligeholdelse sikrer optimal ydeevne og forlænger levetiden på dit solpanel.
- Rensning: Periodically clean the surface of the solar panel to remove dust, dirt, bird droppings, or other obstructions that may block sunlight. Use a soft cloth and mild, non-abrasive cleaning solution with water. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
- Inspektion: Regularly inspect the panel for any signs of physical damage, such as cracks, delamination, or discoloration. Check all electrical connections for corrosion or looseness.
- Miljøbeskyttelse: If the cells are not laminated, protect them from moisture, extreme temperatures, and direct physical contact.
6. Fejlfinding
If you experience issues with your solar cells or panel, consider the following common problems and solutions:
- Lav eller ingen effekt:
- Tjek for skygge: Ensure the panel is not shaded by trees, buildings, or debris.
- Undersøg forbindelser: Verify all soldered connections are secure and free from shorts or breaks. Poor soldering can lead to intermittent or no power.
- Cell Damage: Visually inspect each cell for cracks or significant blemishes. A single damaged cell can affect the output of an entire series string.
- Cells Shorting Out During Soldering:
- Overdreven varme: Reduce the temperature of your soldering iron or the duration of contact.
- Insufficient Flux: Ensure adequate flux is applied to promote quick solder flow.
- Improper Tabbing: Ensure tabbing wires are correctly aligned with contact pads.
- Physical Damage (Cracks, Bending):
- Prevention is Key: These cells are extremely brittle. Handle them with the utmost care. Once cracked or excessively bent, the damage is irreversible.
