4. Opsætning og justeringer
4.1 Justering af hovedbånd
The helmet features a highly adjustable, ergonomically designed head suspension system for a customized fit and comfort.
- Crown Straps: Two adjustable crown straps provide increased stability and weight distribution.
- Front Headband: Padded front headband designed to evenly distribute pressure.
- Ratchet System: Swivel-mounted smooth ratchet system for simple, precise tightening and ergonomic fit.
- Helmet Angles: Snap adjustment allows for nine different helmet angles.
- Pivot Positions: Large knobs facilitate simple adjustment of 'prep' and 'parking' pivot positions, even while wearing gloves.
The headgear accommodates head sizes from 6.25 to 8 (approximately 50 to 64 cm).

4.2 Batteriinstallation
The Auto-Darkening Filter (ADF) is powered by two Cr2030 3V lithium batteries. These batteries are easily accessible and replaceable, extending the helmet's operational life. Refer to the battery compartment for correct polarity during installation.
5. Betjeningsvejledning
5.1 Auto-Darkening Filter (ADF) Operation
The 9100XXi ADF features 3M Speedglas Natural Color Technology, providing a clearer, brighter, and more realistic view. This enhances weld puddle control and allows for better recognition of colors and contrasts.
- Skyggeindstillinger: User-selectable dark shades 5, 8, 9 through 13. The light state is shade 3.
- Viewområde: The ADF provides a viewing area of 72 mm x 107 mm (2.8 inches high x 4.2 inches wide).
- Arc Detection: Three arc detection sensors activate the ADF quickly after striking an arc. The filter switches from light to dark in approximately 0.1 milliseconds (1/10,000 of a second).
- Forsinkelsesfunktion: After welding, the filter automatically returns to light shade 3 with a delay of approximately 40-250 milliseconds, allowing for immediate inspection of the weld pool.

Image 5.1: Illustration demonstrating the operation of auto-darkening filters. The filter transitions from clear to dark upon arc strike and returns to clear after welding, ensuring continuous protection and visibility.

Image 5.3: The 9100XXi ADF Filter, highlighting its 2.8 x 4.2 inch viewing area and selectable shades (5, 8-13) with a shade 3 light state.
5.2 Grinding Mode
The 3M Speedglas Silver Front Panel 9100XXi features external controls for quick access to grinding mode. This allows you to switch between welding and shade 3 grinding mode without removing your gloves or the helmet.
5.3 Memory Modes
The helmet includes two memory modes, allowing you to save and quickly access two different sets of welding parameters. Each memory mode can store individual settings for dark shade, light-to-dark switching sensitivity, and dark-to-light delay.
5.4 Auto-On Technology
The 'Grab and Go' feature automatically turns the welding filter on to your most recently used welding setting when the helmet is picked up. To conserve battery life, the helmet automatically shuts down after a period of inactivity.
5.5 Peripheral Vision (Side Windows)
The helmet is equipped with side windows (shade 5 filters) that expand your field of vision. This feature helps increase awareness of your surroundings, making potential hazards such as obstacles and other workers more visible.

6. Vedligeholdelse
6.1 Rengøring
Regularly clean the helmet shell and the ADF lens with a soft cloth and mild soap solution. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the materials or coatings.
6.2 Udskiftning af batteri
The ADF is powered by two Cr2030 3V lithium batteries. When the low battery indicator appears or the ADF performance degrades, replace both batteries simultaneously. Ensure correct polarity during installation.
6.3 Opbevaring
Store the helmet in its carry bag in a clean, dry environment away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures when not in use.
7. Fejlfinding
If you experience issues with your 3M Speedglas Welding Helmet 9100XXi, consider the following:
- ADF not darkening: Check battery level and replace if necessary. Ensure sensors are clean and unobstructed. Verify shade settings are appropriate for the welding process.
- Dårlig sigtbarhed: Clean the outer and inner protection plates and the ADF lens. Ensure correct shade setting.
- Helmet discomfort: Re-adjust headgear straps and pivot points for a better fit.
