3.2. Attaching Rubber Pads and Footplates

3.3. Preparing the Crossbars

1. Remove and Reinsert Rubber Buffer Strip: Remove the rubber buffer strip from the inside of the crossbar. Remove the end caps. Then, push the rubber buffer strips into the top of the crossbar. You may need to tap any excess rubber strip back into the crossbar to ensure a flush fit.
2. Locate Legs on Crossbar: Locate the leg with the channel nut into the crossbar. Ensure the channel nut sits across the inside of the crossbar.
3. Measure and Adjust Leg Distance: Refer to the DK instructions for vehicle-specific distances between the legs. Note that front and rear bars may have different lengths. Accurately measure the specified distance between the legs and ensure there is equal crossbar overhang on both sides.
4. Tighten M6 Security Screw: Tighten the M6 security screw to 4 to 5 Newton meters (Nm), or until the blue handle on the tool is straight. Spænd ikke for meget.

3.4. Positioning and Securing on Vehicle Roof

1. Place Roof Racks: Carefully place the assembled roof racks onto your vehicle's roof.
2. Measure Positioning on Vehicle: Refer to the DK specification sheet for the correct positioning of your roof racks. Measure the specified distance forward from where the front and rear doors meet for the front crossbar. Then, measure the specified distance from the center of the front crossbar to the center of the rear crossbar.
3. Apply Arrow Decal: Stick the white arrow decal onto the bodywork inside the door jamb, in line with the footplate arrow on the legs. This marks the reference point for refitting and replacing the racks if they are removed in the future.
4. Installer Clamps: Sørg for at clamps go into the correct position by referencing the part numbers in the DK instructions. Hook the lower part of the metal clamp into the door jamb.
5. Fasten M8 Bolt: Fasten the M8 bolt into the pivot nut in the leg. The legs must be tensioned evenly by moving from side to side of the vehicle to avoid pulling the rack to one side.
6. Spænd boltene: Tighten the bolts to 4 to 5 Newton meters (Nm), or until the blue handle on the tool goes straight. Spænd ikke for meget.
7. Install End Caps: Knock the end caps into the crossbar. A rubber mallet may be used for this step.
8. Install Leg Covers: Put on the leg covers by inserting the two lugs on the left side of the leg and use the key provided to lock them in place. Repeat this process for the other three locks.
