Setup and Loading

The Lincoln LIN1151 grease gun can be loaded with standard 14 oz. grease cartridges, bulk grease, or filled via a filler pump.

Loading a Grease Cartridge:

1. Unscrew the barrel from the pump head.
2. Pull the plunger rod (T-handle) all the way back and lock it into the notch on the barrel end cap.
3. Remove the plastic cap from one end of a new grease cartridge and insert the open end into the barrel.
4. Remove the pull-tab or foil seal from the other end of the cartridge.
5. Screw the pump head back onto the barrel, ensuring it is securely tightened.
6. Release the plunger rod from its locked position and push it forward slightly to ensure it engages with the cartridge.
7. Prime the gun by pumping the lever several times until grease begins to flow from the coupler.

Loading with Bulk Grease:

1. Unscrew the barrel from the pump head.
2. Pull the plunger rod (T-handle) all the way back and lock it.
3. Using a spatula or similar tool, carefully pack grease into the barrel, avoiding air pockets.
4. Screw the pump head back onto the barrel.
5. Release the plunger rod and prime the gun as described above.

Operation

Once the grease gun is loaded and primed, it is ready for use.

1. Clean Fitting: Wipe any dirt or old grease from the grease fitting on the component to be lubricated.
2. Attach Coupler: Press the coupler firmly onto the grease fitting until it snaps into place. Ensure a secure connection to prevent leakage.
3. Pump Grease: Operate the lever handle with steady, full strokes. Observe the component being lubricated; stop pumping when fresh grease appears or when resistance increases. Do not over-grease.
4. Remove Coupler: To remove the coupler, tilt it slightly and pull it straight off the fitting. If the coupler is stuck due to pressure, slightly twist it while pulling.
