This bulb (Type A) is specifically designed for OttLite lamps purchased before January 2008 that use a magnetic ballast. If your lamp was purchased after January 2008 and has an "E" marking on the tube, lamp, or box, you will need a Type E bulb with an electronic ballast, not this Type A bulb.
