Opsætning og første samling

The Presto 16-Quart Pressure Canner can be used for pressure canning, boiling water canning, and as a large-capacity pressure cooker.

Trykkonservering (fødevarer med lavt syreindhold)

  1. Forbered krukker: Wash and sterilize canning jars according to USDA guidelines.
  2. Fyld dåse: Place the cooking/canning rack in the bottom of the canner. Fill jars with prepared food and liquid, leaving appropriate headspace. Place filled jars on the rack.
  3. Tilsæt vand: Add 2-3 inches of hot water to the canner, or as specified by your recipe.
  4. Sikker dækning: Align the arrows on the cover and the canner body, then twist the cover to lock it securely in place.
  5. Vent Canner: Turn on the heat source (gas, electric, or smooth-top range). Allow steam to escape steadily from the vent pipe for 10 minutes to ensure all air is exhausted.
  6. Apply Pressure Regulator: Place the pressure regulator on the vent pipe. The pressure dial gauge will begin to rise.
  7. Behandle: Once the desired pressure (indicated by the dial gauge) is reached, adjust the heat to maintain a steady pressure. Process for the time specified in your recipe.
  8. Køl ned: After processing, turn off the heat and allow the canner to cool naturally until the pressure dial gauge reads zero and the air vent/cover lock drops. Do not force cool.
  9. Fjern krukker: Once pressure is fully released, remove the pressure regulator and carefully open the cover. Remove jars using a jar lifter and place them on a towel to cool.

For boiling water canning, the canner can accommodate 12 half-pints or 10 pint jars. Quart jars are not recommended for water bath processing in this model due to height limitations.
