2. Sikkerhedsoplysninger
WARNING: To avoid electric shock or personal injury, and to prevent damage to the meter or the equipment under test, adhere to the following safety guidelines:
- Always ensure the test leads are in good condition, free from cracks or damaged insulation.
- Before measuring current, ensure the meter's fuses are intact and correctly rated.
- Disconnect the circuit power and discharge all high-voltage kondensatorer før test af modstand, kontinuitet, dioder eller kapacitans.
- Do not operate the meter with the case open or if the battery cover is not securely closed.
- Replace the battery as soon as the low battery indicator appears to ensure accurate readings.
- Always use the correct function and range for measurements.

4. Opsætning
4.1 Batteriinstallation
- Sørg for, at måleren er slukket.
- Find batterirummet på bagsiden af måleren.
- Remove the screw(s) securing the battery cover and lift the cover off.
- Connect a new 9-volt battery to the battery clips, observing correct polarity.
- Place the battery into the compartment and replace the cover, securing it with the screw(s).
4.2 Tilslutning af testledninger
- For de fleste volumenertage, resistance, and temperature measurements, insert the black test lead into the KOM (common) jack and the red test lead into the VΩHz stik.
- For current measurements up to 400mA, insert the red test lead into the mA stik.
- For high current measurements up to 20A, insert the red test lead into the 20A stik.
- Sørg for, at alle forbindelser er faste og sikre.
5. Betjeningsvejledning
5.1 Generel drift
- Tænd/sluk: Rotate the function switch from OFF to any desired measurement function to turn the meter on. Rotate back to OFF to power off. The meter also features an Auto Power Off function to conserve battery life.
- Auto-rangering: The ESI 590 Pro is an auto-ranging DMM, meaning it automatically selects the appropriate measurement range. This simplifies operation, but some measurements may take a moment to stabilize.
- Baggrundsbelysning: Press the backlight button (often integrated with the HOLD button or a separate button) to illuminate the display for better visibility in low-light conditions.
- Data Hold: Tryk på HOLDE button to freeze the current reading on the display. Press it again to release.
- Relative Change Function (REL): Tryk på REL button to store the current reading as a reference value. Subsequent readings will be displayed as the difference from this reference. Press again to exit relative mode.
5.2 Målefunktioner
Select the desired function by rotating the central switch.
- Voltage (V DC/AC): Connect leads as described in Section 4.2. Select the V DC or V AC position on the rotary switch. The meter will auto-range.
- Current (A DC/AC, mA DC/AC): Connect leads to the appropriate current jacks (mA or 20A) and select the corresponding current function on the rotary switch. Ensure the meter is connected in series with the circuit.
- Modstand (Ω): Connect leads to COM and VΩHz. Select the Ω function. Ensure the circuit is de-energized before measuring resistance.
- Kapacitans (CAP): Connect leads to COM and VΩHz. Select the CAP function. Discharge capacitors before testing.
- Frequency (Hz) / Duty Cycle (%): Connect leads to COM and VΩHz. Select the Hz/% function.
- Temperatur (°C/°F): Connect the temperature probe to the appropriate jacks (usually COM and VΩHz, or dedicated temperature jacks if present). Select the °C or °F function.
- RPM (omdrejninger pr. minut): Use the inductive RPM pick-up. Connect it to the designated RPM input. Select the RPM function. The inductive pick-up features a five-position adjustable sensitivity switch for optimal signal detection.
- Ms Pulse Width: This function is specifically designed to measure the on-time of fuel injectors. Connect the meter according to the specific instructions for pulse width measurement (refer to advanced automotive diagnostics guides if needed). Select the Ms-PULSE function.
- Dvæle: Select the DWELL function to measure the dwell angle in ignition systems.
6. Vedligeholdelse
6.1 Rengøring
Wipe the meter's case with a damp cloth and a mild detergent. Do not use abrasives or solvents. Keep the display clean and free from scratches.
6.2 Udskiftning af batteri
When the low battery indicator appears on the display, replace the 9-volt battery as described in Section 4.1. Prompt battery replacement ensures continued accuracy and proper operation.
6.3 Udskiftning af sikringer
The ESI 590 Pro DMM is protected by internal fuses for current measurement ranges. If the meter fails to read current, the fuse may be blown. Refer to the meter's internal markings for fuse specifications (e.g., 20A fused, 400mA fused) and replace with fuses of identical type and rating. Fuse replacement typically involves opening the meter's back casing, similar to battery replacement, but may require additional steps. Consult a qualified technician if unsure.
6.4 Opbevaring
When not in use for extended periods, store the meter in its carrying case in a cool, dry environment. Remove the battery if storing for several months to prevent leakage.
7. Fejlfinding
- Måleren tænder ikke: Check battery installation and ensure the battery has sufficient charge. Replace if necessary.
- Inaccurate or unstable readings:
- Ensure test leads are properly connected and making good contact.
- Verify the correct function and range are selected.
- Kontroller for ekstern elektrisk interferens.
- Allow the auto-ranging function sufficient time to stabilize, especially for initial readings.
- Display shows 'OL' (Overload): This indicates the measured value exceeds the selected range. For auto-ranging meters, it means the value is beyond the meter's maximum capability for that function. Ensure the meter is connected correctly and the value is within the meter's specifications.
- No current reading: Check the fuses as described in Section 6.3. Ensure the test leads are connected to the correct current input jacks (mA or 20A) and the meter is in series with the circuit.
- Tachometer not working correctly: Ensure the inductive RPM pick-up is properly connected and positioned. Adjust the five-position sensitivity switch on the pick-up to optimize signal detection. Verify the engine is running and producing a consistent signal.
