The device is equipped with a 7800mAh large capacity lithium battery. Before first use, ensure the battery is fully charged. Charging time is typically less than 3.5 hours. The battery can be charged while installed in the splicer or removed and charged separately via Charging Channel ① (Input voltage: 13.5±0.5V, Input current: 4.8A). A charge indicator light will turn off when fully charged. Press the button next to the power indicator lights to check the current power level.

3.1 Fiber Preparation

Before splicing, the optical fiber must be properly prepared. This involves stripping the fiber coating and cleaving the fiber end face. The device includes an 8-in-1 signal fire stripper and an electric cleaver for this purpose.

The built-in electric cleaver is a one-step tool that automatically returns the blade after a delay, preventing scratches to the fiber end face. The delay time is factory set to 0.5 seconds, with a configurable range of 0.2 to 2 seconds. The cleaver also features automatic blade surface change when a single cutting point is used more than 1000 times, or if three consecutive unqualified cuts occur. You can also manually change the blade surface by pressing a button.

The splicer features a 3-in-1 fiber holder compatible with SM, MM, bare fiber, pigtail, drop cable, and multi-fiber cable. For SC fiber, push up the heating part; for ordinary fiber, push down.

3.2 Splicing Process

Place the prepared fibers into the respective V-grooves of the splicer. The device will automatically align the fiber cores using its 6 motors. The splicing time is approximately 6 seconds, and heating time is 15 seconds. The 5-inch TFT color display provides real-time feedback on the splicing process, including X and Y axis displays, splicing loss, and fiber status reminders.

The splicer utilizes real-time luminous flux assisted alignment technology, intelligently analyzing the alignment point with the least loss to minimize fiber fusion loss. This is particularly useful in environments with stable optical signal links from the front.

After successful splicing, the machine automatically heats the splice protector. The cooling rack is expandable and closable for convenience.

The splicer integrates an Optical Power Meter (OPM) and Visual Fault Locator (VFL). The OPM measures fiber link loss/luminous flux across various wavelengths (850nm to 1650nm) with a measurement range of -50 to +30dBm. The VFL (10km range) assists in fiber line tracking and breakpoint/light leakage detection, offering 15mW power with 2Hz flashing and steady-on modes.

The device offers unlimited storage of splicing records, which can be downloaded and exported. These records can also be viewed on mobile devices via the app, allowing for effective management of welding data.

4.1 Cleaver Maintenance

The electric cleaver is designed for low maintenance. Its automatic blade rotation ensures that cut points are randomly distributed, eliminating the need for blade resurfacing. The independent waste fiber box is easy to clean, contributing to efficient operation.

Regularly empty the waste fiber box to prevent accumulation and ensure smooth operation. Use the provided cleaver cleaning cotton swab and brush for general cleaning of the cleaver area.

  • Left and right fiber does not match: Re-cleave and re-insert fibers, ensuring they are of the same type and properly prepared.
  • The lens is foggy or foreign body interference: Clean the lens and surrounding area with a soft, lint-free cloth and alcohol.

Signalfire offers a five-year warranty for the main unit of the fusion splicer. Please note that certain components are considered consumables and have different warranty periods:

  • The cleaver, miller clamp, stripping pliers, fiber holders, and other tools whose life depends on frequency of use and environmental conditions are not covered under the five-year warranty. Electrodes are also consumable materials and are excluded from this warranty.
  • The battery and power adapter are covered by a one-year warranty. Free warranty service is provided if they are damaged or cannot be charged within one year.
