Opsætning

1. Opladning af enheden:

Before initial use, fully charge the built-in 3.7V 4000mAh polymers battery. Connect the provided charging cable to the Micro USB port on the device and the power adapter. Plug the adapter into a suitable power outlet (110-240V). The charging indicator will illuminate during charging and turn off when fully charged.

2. Tænd/sluk:

3. Indledende konfiguration:

Upon first startup, you may need to configure basic settings such as language, date, and time. Use the navigation buttons and the OK button to select and confirm settings.

Betjeningsvejledning

The AUA900A offers nine distinct functions accessible from the main menu. Use the navigation buttons to highlight a function and press OK for at vælge det.

1. OTDR (Optical Time Domain Reflectometer)

The OTDR function is used to characterize optical fibers, measure fiber length, attenuation, and identify events like splices, connectors, and breakpoints. It is crucial for FTTx and access network maintenance.

  1. Connect the fiber under test to the OTDR port using an appropriate APC connector.
  2. Select "OTDR" from the main menu.
  3. Configure test parameters such as wavelength (1310nm or 1550nm), range, pulse width, and average time.
  4. Tryk på Starte button (often F1 or F2) to begin the test.
  5. Analyze the trace on the display. The device will automatically detect and list events.
  6. Save the results to the internal memory or an external memory card for later analysis using the included software.

2. Event Reflection

This function works in conjunction with the OTDR to provide detailed analysis of reflective events (e.g., connectors, mechanical splices) and non-reflective events (e.g., fusion splices) along the fiber. It helps in pinpointing the exact location and loss of each event.

3. Optical Power Meter (OPM)

The OPM measures the optical power level of a fiber optic signal. This is essential for verifying signal strength and ensuring proper network operation.

  1. Connect the fiber to the OPM port.
  2. Select "OPM" from the main menu.
  3. The display will show the measured optical power in dBm or mW.
  4. You can set reference values for relative power loss measurements.

4. Visuel fejlfinder (VFL)

The VFL emits a visible red laser light into the fiber, allowing for quick identification of breaks, bends, and faulty connectors over short distances (typically up to 10-15 km). The red light escapes at the fault location, making it visible.

  1. Connect the fiber to the VFL port.
  2. Select "VFL" from the main menu.
  3. Activate the VFL. Observe the fiber for any visible red light leakage.
  4. Forsigtighed: Never look directly into the VFL output or the end of a fiber connected to the VFL.

5. Stable Light Source

The stable light source provides a continuous wave (CW) optical signal at specific wavelengths (e.g., 1310nm, 1550nm). It is typically used in conjunction with an OPM to perform insertion loss measurements on fiber optic links.

  1. Connect the fiber to the Stable Light Source port.
  2. Select "Stable Light Source" from the main menu.
  3. Select the desired wavelength and output power level.
  4. Use an external OPM at the other end of the fiber to measure the received power.

6. Ethernet Cable Distance

This function measures the length of Ethernet (RJ45) cables and can detect open or short circuits.

  1. Connect one end of the RJ45 cable to the device's RJ45 port.
  2. Select "Ethernet Cable Distance" from the main menu.
  3. Follow the on-screen prompts to initiate the test. The device will display the cable length and any detected faults.

7. Ethernet Cable Tracking

This function helps locate and identify specific Ethernet cables within a bundle by sending a tone signal that can be detected by a separate cable tracer probe (not included).

  1. Connect the Ethernet cable to the device's RJ45 port.
  2. Select "Ethernet Cable Tracking" from the main menu.
  3. Activate the tone generator.
  4. Use a compatible cable tracer probe to follow the tone and identify the cable.

8. RJ45 Ethernet Cable Sequence

This function verifies the wiring sequence of RJ45 Ethernet cables (e.g., T568A or T568B standards) to ensure proper connectivity and detect miswires or split pairs.

  1. Connect one end of the RJ45 cable to the device's RJ45 port and the other end to the remote unit (if provided, or loopback).
  2. Select "RJ45 Ethernet Cable Sequence" from the main menu.
  3. Initiate the test. The display will show the wiring configuration for each pin, indicating if the cable is correctly wired.

9. LED-lys

The integrated LED light functions as a flashlight, providing illumination in dark working environments.

  1. Select "LED Light" from the main menu.
  2. Toggle the LED light on or off as needed.

Datastyring:

The device supports saving test results. You can transfer data to a computer via the Micro USB interface using the provided analysis software. An external memory card (not included) can also be used for additional storage.
