Betjeningsvejledning

Once the Sound Box is set up, you can begin operating your model railroad with sound:

  1. Tænd: Turn on your analog power pack. The Sound Box will power on automatically.
  2. Select Sound Card: Ensure the correct sound card for your locomotive type is inserted.
  3. Startlyd: Press the "START" button to initiate the engine sound.
  4. Styr volumen: Adjust the "VOLUME" knob to your desired sound level. The "MIC" knob controls the volume of the microphone input.
  5. Synchronize Sound (SYNC): The "SYNC" knob allows you to fine-tune the synchronization between the locomotive's speed and the sound effects. Adjust this to match the sound to your train's acceleration and deceleration.
  6. Funktionsknapper (1-6): Use the numbered buttons (1-6) to trigger various sound functions specific to your inserted sound card, such as horn, bell, brake, or other special effects. Refer to your sound card's specific instructions for button assignments.
  7. Eject Sound Card: To remove a sound card, press the "EJECT" button.

Understanding Sound Card Types

Kato Sound Cards come in two main types, each offering a distinct operational experience:

  • Controller Sync Type (e.g., Steam Locomotives):

With this type, the sound effects, such as the chuffing of a steam engine, are synchronized with the load on the motor. As the motor's load increases (e.g., on an incline or during acceleration), the chuffing sound will slow down, providing a realistic sense of effort from the locomotive.

  • Sound Sync Type (e.g., Electric Multiple Units - EMUs):

This type synchronizes the motor sound with the actual acceleration and deceleration of the model. The sound will dynamically change to reflect the train's speed, offering a smooth and responsive audio experience.

Figure 4: Sound Card Synchronization Types. This image explains the two primary types of sound cards: Controller Sync Type, which adjusts sound based on motor load (e.g., steam engine chuffing slowing on an incline), and Sound Sync Type, which synchronizes sound directly with the model's acceleration and deceleration (e.g., EMU motor sounds changing with speed).

Opretholdelse

The Kato Sound Box is designed for durability and requires minimal maintenance. To ensure optimal performance and longevity:

  • Hold enheden ren og fri for støv. Brug en blød, tør klud til rengøring.
  • Undgå at udsætte enheden for overdreven fugtighed eller ekstreme temperaturer.
  • Store the Sound Box and sound cards in a dry, safe place when not in use.
  • Forsøg ikke at åbne casing or perform internal repairs, as this may void any warranty.
